Starting My Journey: Why Weight Loss Is For Me
I didn’t want this to be another one of those “new year, new me” kind of things. This isn’t about chasing some fake version of myself or starving for a beach holiday photo.
This is about taking real ownership of my health. It’s about feeling alive again — stronger, clearer, in control — not just lighter on a scale.
When I kicked this off, I weighed 100.4kg. I’d gotten to the point where it wasn’t just about weight anymore — it was blood sugar, cholesterol, energy, sleep, how I felt moving through my day.
I started using Mounjaro recently — I’m on a low starting dose — but it’s not some magic fix. It’s a support. The real work is still on me.
I’m not doing anything extreme. No weird detoxes, no crazy “don’t eat after 6pm” rules, no starving.
Instead, I’m focusing on things that actually fit real life: eating food I genuinely like, cooking properly (but eyeballing everything, no weighing like a science experiment), finding efficient, easy meals (like my protein pancakes and energy balls — lifesavers), and moving more — walking the dog, kettlebell workouts, just generally not sitting around all day.
The goal isn’t to be perfect. It’s to be consistent.
I’m getting back into kettlebells — nothing mad, just building up slowly. I’m aiming for real strength, better mobility, and not feeling like a zombie when I get to 3pm every day.
Some days it’s a proper workout. Some days it’s just hitting my steps and listening to my body when it needs a recovery day.
And that’s fine. That’s real.
In just the first stretch, I’ve already dropped weight — around 4.6kg. But honestly? The bigger change is mental.
I feel in control. I’m enjoying food again without hating myself for it. I’m moving because it feels good, not because I’m punishing myself for what I ate.
And for the first time in a long time, it feels like something I’ll actually keep doing — not a thing I’ll abandon by next month.
Weight loss isn’t just for people on TV or influencers selling “miracle teas.” It’s for me. It’s for you. It’s for anyone who’s ready to take their life back one small decision at a time.
I’m not selling anything. I’m not pretending to be a fitness coach or a guru. I’m just showing up, day after day, doing the work, and sharing it in case it helps someone else feel less alone in it.
This journey isn’t about looking different. It’s about feeling different.
And I’m damn proud to finally be on my own side.
